Sublime Mozart is dedicated to Australia’s greatest arts patron, Dame Elisabeth Murdoch, AC, DBE, in celebration of her 100th birthday.

With superb Australian clarinettist and distinguished Mozart performer Paul Dean, the Grainger Quartet, The Queensland Orchestra and Guillaume Tourniaire, these fresh, new performances make these masterpieces of classical music sound newly minted.

PAUL DEAN

Described by London’s Sunday Times as, ‘the excellent Paul Dean’ the Australian clarinettist Paul Dean has enjoyed a rapid rise on the international scene. He is the most distinguished clarinettist of his generation. The Brisbane-born artist is much in demand as a soloist, chamber and orchestral musician and teacher. Paul was principal Clarinet with the Queensland Symphony Orchestra between 1987 and 2000. He has premiered over 70 works including his brother Brett Dean’s clarinet concerto Ariel’s Music. He is also a composer and music arranger. Throughout his career Paul has received numerous awards and prizes for his contribution to music in Australia.  

GUILLAUME TOURNIAIRE

Brilliant young French conductor Guillaume Tourniaire is currently enjoying a meteoric rise onto the international conducting stage. He continues his exciting and groundbreaking work throughout the world as champion of world premières and rare music performances, including committing to disc the first recordings of Saint-Saëns’ Hélène and Nuit persane for Melba Recordings. 

GRAINGER QUARTET

Grainger Quartet was founded in 2006. Violinists Natsuko Yoshimoto, James Cuddeford, violist Jeremy Williams and cellist Patrick Murphy performed their 2007 and 2008 seasons to both popular and critical acclaim.

Using the latest direct stream digital technology, these world-class performances are presented in the finest SACD sound reproduction. The Ken Cato design and elegant packaging complete this very handsome release.
