![]() Lin Jiang - Horn Lin Jiang was born in Shanghai, China in 1986 and moved to Australia at the age of 5. He started playing French Horn at the age of 10 and is now one of Australia’s most sought after soloists. Lin has performed as soloist with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, the Sydney Symphony Orchestra, the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra, Orchestra Victoria, the University of Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, and many other community orchestras.He is also debuting with the Hong Kong Philharmonic in 2009 under the baton of Edo de Waart. He has toured Japan as a soloist and undertook a tour of China in 2006 with representatives of the University of Melbourne brass department. In 2008 he released Encore My Good Sir a CD of various works for the Melba label. Major prizes include the Barry Tuckwell Brass Prize at the Melbourne International Festival of Brass, 2004, 3rd prize at the 2008 Jeju International Brass Competition, 3rd prize at the 2008 Italian International Horn Competition, as well as sponsorship from Yamaha Australia as part of the Australian Chamber Brass Ensemble. Lin Jiang was also a finalist in the prestigious Freedman Fellowship program. He has held scholarships at Scotch College, Melbourne and the Victorian College of the Arts. Lin has just completed his undergraduate studies at The University of Melbourne, receiving a Bachelor of Music with honors and is currently in Germany to further his studies and career.
