Opéra (France) (February 2010) **LE DIAMANT D’OPÉRA**(Special Commendation) An Australian tenor and a French conductor transform Chausson’s celebrated Poème de l’amour de la mer partnered with some extremely rare and passionate works for voice and orchestra by Vierne. This is a revelation and one of the highlights of the start of 2010. Turbulent Heart was the only recording to be awarded the prestigious Le Diamant d’Opéra in the February 2010 edition of Opéra.

| | Beloved of the Gods Mozart and Mendelssohn Beloved of the Gods brings together Australia’s most gifted musicians performing masterpieces by two divinely inspired composers, Mozart and Mendelssohn.The Dean Emmerson Dean trio—clarinettist Paul Dean, his brother violist Brett Dean and pianist Stephen Emmerson—perform Mozart’s Trio for Clarinet, Viola and Piano in E flat major, K498 ‘Kegelstatt’ and Emmerson’s Papamina Suite, an effervescent arrangement of music from Mozart’s The Magic Flute. The brilliant young Tinalley String Quartet completes this SACD release with the Mendelssohn String Quartet No. 2 in A minor, Op.13, ‘Ist es wahr’ one of the central pieces in their winning performance at the Banff International Chamber Music Competition in 2007. | | Turbulent Heart Music of Vierne and Chausson A sumptuous recording of French romantic music at its most ecstatic led by the brilliant young French conductor Guillaume Tourniaire featuring tenor Steve Davislim and The Queensland Orchestra. The four ‘symphonic poems for voice and orchestra’—Psyché Op. 33, Les Djinns Op. 35, Eros Op. 37 and Ballade du désespéré Op. 61—by Vierne are all world-premiere recordings.
Chausson’s masterpiece of nineteenth-century French mélodie, Poème de l’amour et de la mer, is recorded here for the first time by a tenor, the voice for which it was originally written. More information...... |

Bach Organ Sonatas BWV 525-530 Christopher Wrench plays the Bach's Organ Sonatas at Garnisons Kirke, Copenhagen.‘From the moment I first played the Lund reconstruction of the Garnisons Kirke organ when preparing for a recital in 1998, I dreamt of recording the Bach Organ Sonatas on the instrument. With my strong interest in informed performance practice, there was no doubt in my mind that the tonal freshness of this particular instrument and the exceptional agility of its mechanism would provide a superb medium for the realisation of Bach’s musical vision.’ Christopher Wrench
