There was only one Peter Dawson, but Gregory Yurisich has compiled a wonderful tribute in this CD of songs made famous by the great Australian baritone. Old Father Thames, The Road to Mandalay, and other ballads are treated with affectionate gusto with terrific orchestral backing by the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra. Gregory Yurisich has a robust baritone, and the same clarity of diction that was Dawson's trademark. The only other Australian singer I could imagine doing similar justice to Dawson would have been Robert Allman, and that is praise in itself.
