Orchestra Victoria
Orchestra Victoria exists to enrich the cultural lives of Victorians through a wide variety of accessible musical activities performed with vitality and artistic excellence. Orchestra Victoria forges strong partnerships within the arts industry and the wider community and is driven by high artistic standards.
Orchestra Victoria is the Melbourne performance partner of The Australian Ballet, Opera Australia, Victorian Opera and The Production Company. In addition, the orchestra delivers free concerts and education workshops throughout the State via its community program.
Orchestra Victoria is dedicated to making music for all Victorians and achieves this by concerts in venues around metropolitan Melbourne and in Bendigo, Moe, Morwell, Shepparton, Horsham, Hamilton, Warrnambool and Mildura. Performances feature an exciting range of orchestral and chamber music repertoire with outstanding Orchestra Victoria musicians and young guest artists as soloists.
Orchestra Victoria is also dedicated to nurturing young talent. Orchestra Victoria Education provides a unique learning experience for young musicians in regional Victoria. The orchestra creates performance opportunities for young and upcoming soloists through its community concerts. Orchestra Victoria also supports performance opportunities for young soloists and composers through the premiere of the winning composition from the 3MBS National Composer Awards, the Symphony Australia Composer Development Program and the Herald Sun Aria Competition.
Delivering more than 200 performances to around a quarter of a million people throughout Melbourne and regional Victoria each year, Orchestra Victoria is one of Australia’s busiest orchestras.
